Best In Connecticut Sports Spotlight part of ‘In Focus’

The Best in Connecticut Sports Spotlight will be part of the lineup of ‘In Focus’, the CPTV Sports’ Connecticut high school sports magazine hosted by Erika Wachter that premieres Wednesday May 6 at 7 p.m.

The Best in Connecticut Sports Spotlight debuted last fall on CPTV Sports. High school athletes from across the state are doing amazing things in their communities and making a difference in the world around them. Tune in for these often-untold stories and discover the exceptional students and teams going above and beyond their sports endeavors to have a positive impact on their communities.

“In The Huddle”, “Off Base” and UChoose Student-Athlete of Week profiles are the show’s other segments.

‘In The Huddle’ segment part of ‘In Focus’ premiering May 6

“In The Huddle”, a segment with a viewpoint from the meeting rooms, practice fields and sidelines of the athletes who appear on CPTV Sports, will be a weekly segment on “In Focus”, the channel’s new high school sports magazine show that premieres Wednesday May 6 at 7 p.m.

‘In The Huddle’ is a behind-the-scenes look at high school sports and a way to get to know the personalities making sports news in Connecticut. Witness practice rituals, game-day action and more from a whole new perspective. Viewers will have the opportunity to hang with the state’s top teams for a day and discover what makes the teams tick, all from the athlete’s point of view.

The “In The Huddle”, “Off Base” and UChoose Student-Athlete of Week are three of the show’s four segments. We’ll announce the fourth one Monday May 4, two days before In Focus premieres.

‘Off Base’ segment part of ‘In Focus’ lineup

“Off Base”, a segment featuring unique takes from Connecticut athletes and others seen on CPTV Sports, will be part of “In Focus”, the channel’s new high school sports magazine show that premieres Wednesday May 6 at 7 p.m.

Connecticut is full of intriguing sports figures, but what makes these people tick? And who are they? In this funny and upbeat segment, hear answers to viewers’ most straightforward and interesting questions. Viewers can submit questions to us on Twitter @cptvsports or our Facebook page.

CPTV Sports recently announced “In Focus” hosted by Erika Wachter . The “Off Base” and UChoose Student-Athlete of Week segments will be among several on the show each week. Others will be announced in the days leading up to the premiere.

CPTV Sports will premiere “In Focus”, a new high school sports magazine Wednesday May 6 at 7 p.m. The weekly series highlights the accomplishments in Connecticut high school athletics, both on and off the field. CPTV Sports promises In Focus will revolutionize the way that people think about Connecticut high school athletics!

The host of CPTV Sports In Focus is Erika Wachter. The 24-year old native of Egg Harbor Township, N.J., worked with CPTV Sports during the “Run to the Sun” high school basketball championship weekend LIVE from Mohegan Sun in March 2015. Wachter played field hockey at Syracuse University, where she graduated umma cum laude in 2012 with a bachelor of science degree in broadcast journalism. Wachter double-minored in Marketing Management and Psychology.

“I am so excited to be the host of CPTV Sports newest show In Focus,” said Wachter. “I can’t wait to get out in the community to hear your stories and I look forward to sharing them in this unique and interactive format. The passion from the Connecticut sports fan is simply amazing and I am eager to get started this spring!”

“In Focus was created to provide a fresh perspective on high school athletics across the state,” said Joe Coss, CPTV production manager. “This show is about community and telling stories that highlight the successes of Connecticut’s student athletes in an exciting way.”

Segments will be revealed in the days and weeks leading up to the premiere. They include:

* UChoose Student-Athlete of the Week – CPTV Sports’s UChoose Student-Athlete of the Week highlights the performances of six nominees each week, with the winner selected in an online vote beginning Saturday and ending Tuesday at noon - viewers, fans, family and friends are all encouraged to vote. Winners, their schools and accomplishments will be highlighted.
