NECBL: Danbury 9, North Adams 8 (10)

Brendan Cox hit a bases-loaded grounder to deep short to score the winning run in the 10th inning as the Danbury Westerners defeated the North Adams SteepleCats 9-8 in an NECBL game July 15 streamed LIVE on CPTVSports.org. The broadcast premiere is Wednesday July 22 at 8:00pm.

The day before, Cox hit a two-run single to give Danbury a 3-2 win over the Mystic Schooners in the second game of a doubleheader also streamed LIVE at CPTVSports.org. The broadcast premiere is Saturday July 18 at 8:00pm. Mystic’s 6-1 win in Game 1 will premiere Friday July 17 at 7:00pm.

Cox’s grounder completed Danbury’s rally from a 6-0 deficit. The Westerners improved to 9-20 and are 2 1/2 games out of a playoff berth in the Southern Division of the NECBL, is a wood-bat developmental league for college players from all over the country. NECBL: Mystic 6-2, Danbury 1-3 (DH)

The Danbury Westerners and Mystic Schooners split a doubleheader in New England Collegiate Baseball League action July 14 at Dodd Stadium in Norwich.

Mystic won the opener 6-1 and Danbury came back to take the nightcap 3-2. The NECBL is a wood-bat developmental summer league for college players.

CPTV Sports streamed the games LIVE and will show the broadcast premieres next week. Game 1 premieres Friday July 17 at 7:00pm and Game 2 Saturday May 18 at 8:00pm. Game 2 highlights above.

In Game 1, Mystic capitalized on eight walks and needed just four hits. Jesse Berardi of St. John’s hit a bases-loaded double in the Schooners’ five-run second. Mystic starter Mike Adams pitched six innings for the win.

Danbury’s Brendan Cox hit a two-run single in the sixth to give the Westerners the win in the nightcap.

Fairfield American Sweeps South Windsor


Fairfield American scored mercy-rule victories over South Windsor on consecutive days to win the state Little League baseball championship series played July 26 and July 27 in Harwinton. CPTV Sports will show replays in upcoming days (YouTube Game 2 highlights above; check broadcast schedule for replay dates).

Fairfield American advanced to the New England Regional for the fourth time in five years. The regional begins Friday August 1 in Bristol.
