Johnson & Wales 65, St. Joseph’s 56

Johnson and Wales spoiled the University of  Saint Joseph’s Senior Day with a 65-56 women’s college basketball win in West Hartford February 22. CPTV Sports covered the game and will show the broadcast premiere Thursday February 27 at 9:00 pm. Before the game, USJ honored seniors Devon Diliberto of Waterbury,  Mary Hyde of Derby and Shauna Sullivan of Rocky Hill.  The Blue Jays finished the 2013-14 season with a 12-14 record after losing to Rivier 79-62 in the first round of the GNAC tournament February 26. Quinnipiac 4, Yale 0

Goalie Michael Garteig made 33 saves and No. 4 Quinnipiac scored two goals in 17 seconds in the second period as the Bobcats defeated neighborhood rival Yale 4-0 February 14 in New Haven in a game seen LIVE on CPTV Sports. The ‘War on Whitney’ will be repeated several times in upcoming days (check broadcast schedule).

Quinnipiac, which defeated Yale three times last season before losing to the Bulldogs in the NCAA Division I championship game, improved to 21-5-5, 10-3-3 ECAC. No. 13 Yale, which failed to capitalize on five power plays, dropped to 12-8-4, 7-7-3.

Cory Hibbeler opened the scoring in the first period for Quinnipiac. The Bobcats then struck in quick succession in the second period. After Sam Anas scored at the 7:33 mark, Connor Clifton — who scored in Quinnipiac’s 3-3 home tie with the Bulldogs in November — followed up 17 seconds later. Quinnipiac is second and Yale sixth in the ECAC standings. Post Women, Men Sweep Concordia in Basketball

Aubrey Latham of Mystic became Post College’s all-time women’s basketball scoring leader to highlight a successful night for both the Eagles men’s and women’s basketball teams January 14 against Concordia (N.Y.) in Waterbury.

CPTV Sports will show the replays of the women’s 91-62 victory and the men’s 79-50 win in upcoming days (check broadcast schedule).

The women improved to 5-9 overall, 5-3 in the CACC. The men are 5-11, 4-4 in the CACC. YouTube highlights of Latham’s record night below.

Post University Women’s, Men’s Hoops vs. Concordia (N.Y.)

Post University of Waterbury will host Concordia (N.Y.) University in a women’s-men’s college basketball doubleheader Jan. 14 starting at 6 p.m. CPTV Sports will show the broadcast premieres Thursday Jan. 16 starting at 7:30 p.m. with the women’s game, followed at 9:30 by the men.

Both the Eagles men and women will be looking to improve their position in the Central Athletic Collegiate Conference North standings.

Sacred Heart 4, Army 1

Central Connecticut 73, Hartford 59


Junior Malcolm McMillan scored a team-high 15 points and had four rebounds and three assists to lead Central Connecticut to a 73-59 men’s basketball victory over regional rival Hartford seen live on CPTV Sports Dec. 10.
