2009 CIAC Class S State High School Softball Championship – Canton vs. Coginchaug

STRATFORD- The Canton Warriors used timely hitting and effective pitching to top Coginchaug for the Class S State Championship, 4-2, at DeLuca Field in Stratford. 

Jess Schroeder finished the game 2-4 for Canton, while Melissa Parente went 2-3.  Stephanie Gauthier also made a huge play for the Warriors as she threw out a player at the plate in the sixth inning.

Canton finished the season with an overall record of 13-5.

It's their first state title in softball since 1991.
