Congrats to Yale - NCAA hockey champs!

CPTV Sports congratulates NCAA Divsion I hockey champion Yale, which defeated state rival Quinnpiac 4-0 in the championship game in Pittsburgh April 13.

Yale, the last team selected for the tournament, got 36 saves from Jeff Malcolm as it finished 22-12-3. Quinnpiac, which was the top-ranked team in the country, finished 30-8-5.

Yale reached the final with a 3-2 overtime win over UMass Lowell April 11; the Bobcats defeated St. Cloud State (Minn.) 4-1 in the second Frozen Four semifinal.

The Bobcats defeated Yale in each of their previous meetings. The first was Feb. 2 in a game telecast LIVE by CPTV Sports as Quinnpiac scored six consecutive goals in a 6-2 win at Ingalls Rink in New Haven (YouTube highlights below). Quinnpiac also won 4-1 in Hamden Feb. 22 and 3-0 in the ECAC quarterfinals in Atlantic City, N.J., March 23.
